2016-2017 VOLUNTEER FORM

To volunteer for the 2016-2017 school year, you will need to fill out the volunteer form and bring it to the office with your ID. Once you have gone through this process, you can then start volunteering. You will need to have this form on file to help chaperone any field trips as well. Volunteer needs will vary, please check with your child's teacher.

Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten enrollment is underway. If you have or know of a child who turns 5 before September 1 of this upcoming 2017-18 school year, he/she is ready to enroll in kindergarten. If you know a child who turns 5 between September 2 and March 1 of this upcoming 2017-18 school year, he/she may enroll in transitional kindergarten. Visit MPUSD's enrollment web page at www.mpusd.net/info! Additionally, pre-school enrollment is also occurring and we're looking for children who turn age 3 by September 1 to come learn with us in our play-based learning environments. MPUSD offers FREE full and half day pre-school programs in Marina and Seaside. If you know of any 3 or 4 year olds who would like to become part of our early learning pathway today, send them to www.mpusd.net/earlychildhoodeducation. We offer Common Core aligned curriculum, an opportunity to build social and emotional skills, and free breakfast and lunch!

Short Term Independent Study

                                     Independent Study 

                    Short Term (5 – 15 Days)

 

VERY IMPORTANT~ PLEASE READ REGARDING INDEPENDENT STUDY CONTRACTS

  • Parent notifies their school of residence of the future absence. The notification must be at least five, (5), school days in advance of departure.
  • The site principal must approve the Short Term Independent Study.
  • Parent and student sign the Short Term Independent Agreement.
  • The site secretary notifies the student’s teacher(s) to collect the student’s work for the period of the absence.
  • The school of residence attendance clerk will mark the absence with a “K”, (Independent Study pending).
  • Upon the student’s return, the teacher will evaluate work and award attendance.
  • The attendance clerk will adjust the attendance records changing a “K” to the appropriate attendance.

Important Notes

  • Failure to complete the assignment during the absence will result in a truancy referral.
  • Short Term Independent Study is NOT for recapturing unexcused days.
  • Short Term Independent Study is not for students who are ill.
  • Students must complete a minimum of five, (5), days of schoolwork to earn attendance.
  • School of residence retains a sample of student work on file.
